A leading estate agent in Pattaya commented over the weekend that he had not had one inquiry during the month of July 07. He didn't mean not one sale, he really meant not one inquiry. Is this one agent having a bad month or an indication of a flat property market? The latter scenario seems the most likely but development continues apace in all sectors with the developers generally holding their nerve and not openly discounting their properties. Given we are in a buyers market, discounting must be a factor but on a case by case basis rather than a publicly announced policy.
Sierra Tangos- BBC iPlayer - I received my e-mail invitation today to sign up for BBC iPlayer. I'm thinking Eastenders, Casualty, Grumpy Old Women here I come. I followed the start up instructions and was only mildy aggrieved when I was forced to switch from Firefox to Internet Explorer. I registered with both BBC.co.uk and BBC iPlayer and then went to download the player and all I got was an invalid password message. After much digging around I found the following hidden away in the help section:
- Downloading programmes outside the UK - The BBC is using Geo-IP technology to identify where someone is situated based on the location of their ISP. This ensures that only internet users in the UK can download and enjoy programmes on BBC iPlayer. However, once you've downloaded a programme to your computer you can watch it from anywhere in the world.
Pity their e-mail invitation software isn't as clever!!!!!!

Clearing his throat, he stammered, "Outside, when you said you heard someone coming? That was me.....".

Further to my earlier comments on Phuket hotels auctioning rooms on eBay, I have now found a second hotel, The Absolute Sea Pearl Beach Resort, doing the same thing but without conditions. This makes my earlier comment about it being a single hotel somewhat redundant.

Either that or be very, very patient.... Other issues reported are security update warnings that won't allow you to press "update"; files that simply refuse to download; and an Internet Explorer error about a "slow running script" in the iPlayer library. If you are still interested in the BBC iPlayer then I suggest you register so you have the service but then wait for BBC iPlayer to come out of beta to avoid the teething problems detailed above. Warning. One site has reported that this service is for UK residents only who have paid their TV licenses but I can find no reference to this on any of the BBC iPlayer web pages

as found that the pension funds in many large corporations (e.g., Boeing, Lockheed Martin, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, etc.) have been “Over Funded” because many “late retirees” who keep-on working into their old age and retire late after the age of 65 tend to die within two years after their retirements. In other words, many of these late retirees do not live long enough to collect all their fair shares of pension money.
The study found that for people who retired at the age of 50, their average life span is 86; whereas for people retired at the age of 65, their average life span is only 66.8. An important conclusion from this study is that for every year one works beyond age 55, one loses 2 years of life span on average. My important conclusion is if you are over 60 and still working, then you better keep going. Stopping is not an option........... Alternatively, if you want to retire, take your pension in a lump sum and leave it with me for safe keeping..... George, are you listening.......
