If the world survives on Friday why not celebrate in Showgirls, (LK Metro. Pattaya), new 2nd Floor LAP Dancing Bar. The first 25 to book a lap dance get a free drink but don't rush, I've pre-booked all 25 for me and One-Shirt....... cough, cough....

Inflation hits Pattaya Walking Street
I heard last night that a new OFF Walking Street Go-Go is paying it's dancers Bt1,400 minimum a night. That's correct, just under $50 a night. Some of the girls are on Bt2,000. Consequently, stars from other bars are being drawn there to work. Of course, these costs are passed on to the punter in the form of Bt1,500 and up bar fines.
There are still plenty around who will pay this but I suspect there will be just as many who take their business elsewhere, maybe even swerve the Go-Gos in favour of places like Marine and Insomnia.
The real winners are the girls who can make a decent living without having to put their legs in the air..... That's assuming they don't have to make monthly quotas to keep their $$$$ jobs....

Mega Mall, Bagna, Bangkok
With Christmas just 3 weeks away, I thought I'd see if I could find any gifts to myself, (from Santa), at the new Mega Mall mall on Sukhumvit at Bang Na. Everybody say 'arghh, billy-no-mates, sad bastard'.
I drove on to Road 7 in Pattaya at 8.40am this morning and drove in to the car park at the Mega Mall just 1hr 5mins later, a distance of 112kms. All driving done within the speed limit, (mathmeticians need not comment). All the various shops open at 10.00am so I had the pleasure of picking my spot in the biggest car park I've ever seen.
Although you can't tell from my photos, the Mall is not only home to a host of popular shop brands but also Ikea, Robinson, Big C, and Homepro stores. It's a one-stop shop for a do-it-yourself nut who likes to cook and wants to buy a pair of overalls. I went home..... no, hang on. The Mall is on 2 floors only so instead of the escalators doing the walking, you have to do it. Jeez, my feet were killing me when I'd finished. The mistake I made was getting stuck in the Ikea maze. I bought some clothes pegs and must have walked 2 effing miles to find the check-out. Nobody better touch them pegs....... I shopped, wandered and ate for about 6 hours and then found that leaving wasn't as easy as arriving. Half of Bangkok seemed to be exiting the car park around 4.00pm so the queues were painful. On top of that I had to drive 4kms further towards Bangkok to find a U-Turn for Chonburi.
The Mega Mall is a shoppers delight but I would only go again if I wanted the mall and something from the connected stores. I don't think I'd go it again just for the mall. I'm sure ladies would as I recognised a number of UK and HK ladies fashion brands that I can't recall seeing in any of Central's malls, not that I was looking........ The best find for me was a Mrs Field's Cookies outlet. It brought back happy memories for me of getting them as a gift from a Thai girl in Wanchai, HK, some years back. Don't know what she wanted...... Happy days.......

Pattaya on the map
I was driving south on Sukhumvit yesterday between north Pattaya and central Pattaya roads when an odd looking car with a camera on top started following me. Don't panic I thought. I checked my speed, dumped my marijuana stash and chilled. It was only when the car pulled alongside that I realised it was the Google Street Car. Feck me Google, I crapped myself. Anyway, if you check out the Google Street view for Pattaya and the car shown in the picture is throwing rubbish out the window, just ignore it..........
I was out on the roads early today and saw the Google Street car again but heading north this time. Looks like Pattaya is finally on the map......

Pattaya traffic jams to increase
The traffic last Bank Holiday weekend was as bad as I've seen it in Pattaya and that includes high seasons. Sukhumvit, 2nd Road, 3rd Road and the roads in between were almost grid locked. Thank 'B' for rat runs.
Yesterday afternoon, traffic was queuing from the exit of '7' on Sukhumvit to the Siam Country Club traffic lights. Could be a sign we are in for another busy weekend, particularly as it's the Eid holiday in the Muslim world. Many mongers will no doubt jump flights for a week or two in Thailand.
What do we have to look forward to. Well, City Hall announced some time ago that work would start in October 12 on a tunnel at the intersection of Pattaya Central and Sukhumvit to ease traffic flow on Sukhumvit. If they go ahead, it will be chaos for the 2 years it takes to complete. OMB.....

Lock in on LK Metro
Had a lock-in on LK Metro on Saturday night, Sunday morning. How can you get a lock-in when the bars are open all night you ask. Well, I was just about to head home around 2.00am when a monsoon style down pour hit Pattaya, it was hammering it down. I was in Champagne at the time and the staff couldn't leave for the same reason. Andy was orchestrating the mayhem and it was bouncing in and out of the bar. I'm hoping for rain the next time I'm in there........

Women With a Mission Golf Tournament - Phoenix Golf Club, Pattaya
The fourth ‘Women With a Mission Charity Golf Tournament’, supported by AustChamThailand, will be held on Friday October 19 at Phoenix Golf Club, Pattaya. There will be a shotgun start at noon (registration from 11am – 11:45am).
Entry fees are 14,000B per team of four, or 3,500B per player, which can be male or female. This includes green fee, caddy fee, goody bag, tournament golf shirt and admission to AustCham’s ESB Sundowners. Cart and tip are not included.

Bus service between Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi launched
BMTA has about 15 buses for the service which operates daily during 4am-10pm. The estimated travel time is 90 minutes, excluding waiting time for the bus which might be 15-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Unfortunately, the bus isn't designed for passengers with large luggage. BMTA operates the service with a normal yellow air-conditioned bus. It plans to increase the number of buses to 20 within the next 30 days.
