Pattaya New Years Eve

Just in from Walking Street and Bali Hai and boy was it busy. Seemed like half of Bangkok was down there. For the shallow minded amongst you there were some seriously stunning ladies wandering around but my feeling is they were visitors rather than workers.

The free fireworks display at midnight was awesome. If you were in a Go-Go (Chas) or an ST room (Geoff) and missed it, then you are very, very sad. The whole bay was lit up from Naklua to Bali Hai and words just can't do it justice. All credit to Pattaya City Hall and the hotels for a great show. Take a bow.

Minor gripe. The police had closed off various roads and intersections without prior notice. Given Dec 31st is close to gridlock in Pattaya then finding you can't make the usual turning home and have to spend another 40mins going in the wrong direction is not my idea of fun. Example. The overpass from Bali Hai to 3rd Road was one way only from Bali Hai even at the start of the evening when everybody was driving in to Bali Hai. Chaos resulted and no Police were on hand to sort it out. Gripe over.
