Documents Required To Extend One Year Visa For The Over 50's

I made my quarterly visit to Immigration this morning and as my one year visa needs renewing on my next visit, I picked up details of the documents required for renewal of the one year visa. I can't see any significant changes between last year's and this year's requirements, if anything it looks to me like there are fewer requirements. That said the Immigration Officer made me a bit suspicious when she advised me to submit my papers 3 weeks before the deadline. What surprises do they have in store, I wonder?

Documents required to extend visa for senior citizens, over 50 years of age:

  1. Application form (TM.7)
  2. One 4 x 6cm photograph
  3. Passport and a copy of passport (must have obtained a non immigrant visa prior to the submission of the application)
  4. Letter from Embassy which shows social security pension with the amount of pension not less than 65,000 Baht per month and transfer slip (if applicable) OR
  5. Letter from bank in Thailand with account balance not less than 800,000baht and a photocopy of bank book illustrating all transactions in the past 3 months
  6. Combine No 3 and No 4 (Ed. I think this is a typo and should read Combine No 4 and No 5) not less than 65,000 Baht per month or 800,000Baht per year
  7. Application fee of 1,900Baht

There's a little confusion here as in addition to the typo at No 6, I would have thought No 6 would require smaller amounts as it's a combined submission of pension and account balance. As stated, it gives no advantage over you submitting just No 4 OR just No 5.

Thin & Crispy: I thought this would be useful info for you - did it rock your boat????

Note. This post is without images because I am receiving a server error when trying to upload this post from my offline editor. As a quick fix I have posted the text online but the images will have to wait. Ed.

  • What happened to the go-kart track fronting Theppasit Road. It's gone and will be replaced by what, houses? supermarket?

  • If you are thinking about going to Japan but never really found the time or money, now is the chance. United Airlines has a special offer from 15th January until the 29th of February (outbound travel must be in this period) for only 9,900 Baht return to Tokyo on a Boeing 747-400.

"The special fare of just 9,900 Baht and United’s superb in flight service with Asian dining options between Bangkok and Tokyo make this offer a real winner for a winter getaway,” said Mr Eric Wilson, general manager of United Airlines in Thailand. [via BangkokRecorder]

  • Praise continues to roll in for MiShare, a $100 gizmo that lets you dock two iPods and swap songs, or anything else, back and forth. It takes about 10 second a song. The Brooklyn-based startup gets highlighted in the NYTimes's Tech section today, and has also received good ink from Vanity Fair, Engadget and Gizmodo.

The people who don't like it: The remaining employees at major record labels, who worry that the device will only further encourage file-sharing. They're right, of course, since that's exactly what it's supposed to do. Perennial music grouch Rich Greenfield even cites the device today as another reason to short poor Warner Music Group. • Turn your photos in to pop art without Photoshop. Andy Warhol popularised the Pop Art style with his silkscreen paintings of Marilyn Monroe. Want something similar to gift your wife on her coming birthday ? While Warhol painted all the different variations by hand, you can easily convert any digital photograph into a pop art portrait using Warholizer - just upload the picture (or grab one from Flickr) and wait as this tool turns that photo into a pop art poster. • Avatar Advanced Extreme Art Gallery Photoshop CS3 - this is a site that is lost in translation. I could look at it for hours but don't ask me what it's about cause I haven't got a clue.

  • Overwhelmed by too many digital photos on your computer? Can’t find the time to sit there and tag each photo or separate them into organized folders, etc? If you’re like me, you probably have a billion photos that are just sitting in one giant folder all with names like DSC0100939 with no way to figure out what is what!

That means you probably need some serious help finding them! As of now, all you can do is bring them all up in a photo gallery program and browse until you find the picture you want. Or you can browse by date and try to remember when you took the picture. But what do you do if you can’t remember when you took the picture!?

Photology comes to the rescue! Photology helps you navigate your billizillion digital photos by finding photos using simple and intuitive filters like faces, sky, color, location, and time of day.

So you’re looking for a picture of your brother in a bright orange polka dot tuxedo taken a couple of years back during high school graduation? If your photos are not tagged or organized into folders, then Photology can help. Use their color filter to narrow down the photos from 10,000 to just a couple! Photology aims to make sure that you can find a photo in less than thirty seconds using their advanced search filtering.

Here’s the full list of available search filters you can apply to your photos. Remember you can keep choosing more filters to keep narrowing down the photos. So if you remember that the picture was taken at night, in 2006, and has a face, then you would go to Time of Day, Date, and Content.

    • Time of day and Date (month, year)
    • Orientation
    • Over/under exposed
    • Inside or outside
    • Text search of captions, file names, folders
    • Coarse or fine color search
    • Photo content: Plants, Sky, Faces, Beach, Flowers, Snow, Sunset, Water

Definitely very cool software and well worth the $39 if you have a crap load of pictures! I wish it were free and maybe it will be once Google buys it out! Enjoy! [via Online Tech Tips]

  • Oldie But Goldie - The Iranian Ambassador to the UN had just finished giving a speech, and walked out into the lobby where he met President Bush. They shook hands, and as they walked the Iranian said, "You know, I have just one question about what I have seen in America". President Bush said, "Well, anything I can do to help you, I will." The Iranian whispered "My son watches this show 'Star Trek' and in it there is Chekhov who is Russian, Scotty who is Scottish, and Sulu who is Chinese, but no Arabs. My son is very upset and doesn't understand why there aren't any Iranians on Star Trek either." President Bush laughed, leaned toward the Iranian ambassador, and whispered back, " That is because it takes place in the future."

  • A couple are getting ready for a night out. The lady as always has taken her time and prepared her outfit days ahead. The man arrives downstairs in his best Jeans and an his favourite (10 year old) shirt.

"Do I look OK honey?", says he.

The wife says "I've seen better dressed wounds"
