80s Was Number 1 For Music

The 1980s is still the most popular music decade of the past 40 years, according to a survey.

A survey by digital music broadcaster Music Choice found almost one in three people prefer to sing along to music from the era of synthetic pop.

The 80s beat the music of the 1990s to the top spot as well as that from the 1970s which came third.
The decade also saw one of the biggest aid relief concerts of all time, Live Aid, which was voted the most important music event of the past 30 years.
It is unsurprising then there has been the reformation of famous 1980s bands such as Spandau BalletDuran Duranand the Pet Shop Boys.
The relevance of the 80s can also still be seen as the motivation of many modern music artists such as Lady Gaga.
Her performance at The Brits highlighted her style and sound inspiration from such cult legends as Madonna and David Bowie.
The popularity of 80s tunes is also reflected in a list of songs requested for the first dance at weddings.
While the 1973 hit You Are The Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder took out the number one spot, Van Morrison's 1989 song Have I Told You Lately came in at second place.
It was followed soon after by the 1981 ballad Endless Love byLionel Richie and Diana Ross at number four.
