More Dry Days On The Thai Horizon

Senate elections are scheduled for 1st/2nd March but there are rumours circulating that there will be pre-elections one week earlier, on 23rd/24th Feb, which could lead to no alcohol and possible bar closures over both weekends.

With Maka Bucha Day falling on Thursday, Feb 21 it could mean no alcohol on Thursday 21st and then again from 6.00pm Saturday, Feb 23rd to 8.00pm Sunday, Feb 24th. The following weekend, it could be no alcohol from 6.00pm Saturday, March 1 to 8.00pm Sunday March 2

This is pure speculation at this stage but at lest you can make contingency plans for the two Saturdays, Feb23 and March 1.

  • Singapore will open their Singapore Flyer on Monday which is even bigger than the London Eye. Not to be outdone Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung said Friday that he would propose the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to build a tall observation wheel in the capital like the famous London Eye. Chalerm, who oversees the BMA, said he would soon hold a meeting with BMA executives and would propose the idea and would offer to seek a budget for it. He said Rajburana district would be a perfect location for the construction. [via The Nation]

  • Tap your own phone line with Teleport 2.0 - I’ve never really thought that anyone was “out to get me.” Sure, back in the day I thought I was going to get into some hot water over all of those Napster downloads I did (I was on dial-up at the time, so couldn’t have downloaded that many), but never to the point where I thought that someone was tracing my calls, or that I should be recording calls I received. However, were I needing something to do just that, I’d probably consider the Teleport 2.0.

This neat little gadget hooks into your phone line and stores all of the information about your incoming and outgoing calls such as caller ID and numbers dialed. Of course every time you pick up the phone, it starts recording and sends the data to your computer via USB. It’s $71.12 and available now. [via Coolest Gadgets]

  • Supercharge your Windows Clipboard with Clipdiary - Like the idea of having a copy of every snippet of information you copy to your Windows clipboard, but don't feel like trusting a remote web site with your personal data? Clipdiary basically does the same thing as ControlC, but instead of storing your clipboard information online, Clipdiary stores it on your computer.

Once Clipdiary is running, every time you hit Ctrl+C, a copy of the information you're copying is saved to a Clipdiary database. If you hit the print screen button, you can also save images as BMP files. You can bring up your database by hitting Ctrl+D or clicking the Clipdiary icon in your taskbar.

You can preview information stored in the database by clicking on the entry in your clipboard, but there's no way to preview images, which are unhelpfully labelled "image." If you want to paste text or an image into a new file, just double click on the entry or single-click and then click the copy button. [via Downloadsquad]
