Pattaya City Hall has advised that bars and other late night entertainment venues will be closed closed from 6pm, Feb 22nd until Midnight on Feb 23rd. This election also coincides with Maka Bouscha Day on 21st February when bars are expected to close in observance of this religious holiday. [via Pattaya City News]

- I ate in the Cherry Restaurant opposite X-zyte on Pattaya 3rd Road for the first time today and absolutely loved it. I had a Parrot Fish dish with boiled potatoes and it was delicious. The fish came in a light, beer batter which was perfect. Cost Bt220. The menu is distinctly European not English, (did I hear a sigh of relief) and is well worth a visit if you are in the area. It get's very busy in the early evening so be warned.
- Next door to the Cherry Restaurant is Donovan's Bar which is sort of two bars in one. When you go through the first door you are in a room with lockers, two tables with chairs and two wide screen TVs showing sports. Very basic and looked more like a members changing room than a bar. Pass through this area and through a second door and you enter the bar for real. On the left side is a bar area that reminded of "Cheers" but without Ted and Woody. In the middle of the room there is what looked to me like a pastry counter and on the right a wine rack. Very unusual but distinctive design. The bar had a very cosy feel to it and again, if your in this area of town and want a beer far from the madding crowd then this could be the place for you. It said American to me but I don't know why when I've never seen a bar design like it before. Check it out.

Unfazed, the blonde assures the pharmacist that she has been buying it from this store on a regular basis and would like some more.
"I'm sorry", says the pharmacist, "We don't have any".
"But I always buy it here," says the blonde.
"Do you have the container that it came in?" asks the pharmacist.
"No", says the blonde, " But I'll go home and get it."
She returns with the container and hands it to the pharmacist who looks at it and says to her, "This is just a normal stick of underarm deodorant."
Annoyed, the blonde snatches the container back and reads out loud from the container .........
"To apply, push up bottom"...
