The Marine Disco in the 1980's was without rival. It was the only farang after hours place in town and was home to some of the prettiest Thai ladies I've ever seen. It still had the sunken dancefloor which meant you could see every girl on the dance floor from either bar. Great design which I'm surprised hasn't been replicated elswhere. Sadly the Marine's design was structurally unsound. The sunken dancefloor was the ceiling of the beer bars (chicken shack) below. Although supported by pillars from below much of the dance floor was between the pillars and therefore unsupported. Alarm bells rang when the ceiling viewed from the beer bars developed a spider's web of cracks which couldn't be seen in the Marine itself for the wooden dance floor. The current false floor was installed on supports that sit directly above the pillars. Disaster averted but for me being vertically challenged, much of the Marine's appeal went with the sunken dancefloor.
Anyway, to the point of the post. If you hark back to the 'golden age' of the Marine then you'll know this Ward Brothers track. It was a Marine anthem and much loved by the girls at the time. It's a track that has completely disappeared over time. Not sure why cause it's a cracker. Enjoy. (Note the tracks clipped to reduce the size from 4mb to 1.5mb)Posted via email from Pattaya Post
