Taylor Delane, Victoria Valmer & Marriage Visas

  • A pal here in Pattaya went to renew his One Year Marriage Visa today at Jomtien Immigration and was given a whole new set of hoops to jump through to get the visa. In addition to the papers he submitted last year, Immigration today asked for:
    • Photos of him and wife/kids in various rooms of their house
    • A copy of residence House Register showing his name
    • Marriage certificate notarised by the British Consulate
    • Marriage certificate notarised by Immigration at Chang Wattana/Mung Thong Thani, Bangkok

Rumour has it that there are a good number of farangs staying here on forged marriage certificates and they are the target of this new purge. Look out for a surge in invitations to real weddings in the coming weeks!!!

I received this news by phone from a harassed friend so I may have missed some of the details. If you are due to renew your marriage visa in the near future, it may pay you to make some enquiries first to determine the exact requirements. One further point. Go at least a week before your current visa expires because my pal was advised that if he overruns the expiry date of his current visa, whilst obtaining the new docs, he will be hit with an overstay fine. Ouch.
