Pattaya has had it's fair share of bad publicity over the years, some beyond it's control and some within. From political unrest, to infrastructure problems, to crime, to SARS, to an in your face adult sex industry, Pattaya has had to contend with it all. Lately though, the bad publicity has come from a different quarter, the farang and in particular one Canadian and one Brit. Having two predators associated with Pattaya in the course of just a few days is bad news indeed. It's the sort of news that makes world headlines and makes tourists, particular family tourists, look elsewhere.
The question now is will the Thais who are investing massively in this area allow Pattaya's name to be continually dragged through he mud. After all, the Pattaya they want is far removed from the Pattaya we know today. They want a resort that attracts money and families not mongerers and predators. I can only see one outcome. A further crack down on the 'entertainment industry' and a further purge of the foreigners living here. Let's hope I'm wrong.

- Your web browser is probably one of the most important applications on your computer so you want to be extra careful about creating backups of your user profile, bookmarks, browsing history, and other browser settings in case of a computer crash. It's also useful when you want to migrate to a new computer and don't want to start over with a fresh browser profile.
For Internet Explorer users, Internet Explorer Backup can help you backup and restore your favorites, dialup accounts, cookies, passwords, and other browser settings. You can also schedule automated
backups on a daily, monthly, or weekly basis.
If you're using Mozilla Firefox, MozBackup can create backup files of your Firefox profile, bookmarks, extensions, cache, and other settings. You can also use it to backup your emails and contacts if you use Thunderbird. [via {digital} alchemy]

- A mountaineer fell down a very deep crevasse, breaking both his arms. Another member of the party managed to lower a rope until it was just within reach of the man's head. "Quick", he shouted, "Get hold of the rope with your teeth and I'll pull you up." Inch by inch, the fellow was pulled back up the crevasse. When he had only two feet to go, his rescuer called out, "Are you alright?" " Yes, aaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhh!", came the reply!
