Many Pattaya Youngsters At Risk Of Becoming Ensnared In Sex Industry

The Child Defense Organization declared that eighty to ninety percent of teenagers, in Pattaya, are at risk of becoming involved in the sex industry. The problem originates with the family. Relevant government authorities need to take this problem seriously so it can be resolved.

Coordinators of Suphamitr Foundation of Pattaya and Child Defense staff revealed that many Pattaya youth are at risk to become involved in sexual trafficking, especially those who are homeless or who work in the entertainment districts. Eighty to ninety percent of them are addicted to drugs because of the unwholesome environment or peer pressure. They are often persuaded by owners of entertainment venues who use money and material objects to lure them into the industry. These youngsters are easily lured as a result of the fact that they lack education, live in poor conditions and are away from their parents or guardians.

“What we are doing, these days, is trying to reduce the number of homeless children, which is the ultimate solution. However, the problem’s origin is from family issues. If they live in a nurturing atmosphere, and are not from a broken family, whether they’re poor or not, they would not feel the need to become homeless and the problem would not occur,” Mrs. Sopin added.

The biggest danger, at the moment, is the risk group expanding to Grade six through high school, level 3. Young boys seem to be more at risk than young girls. Therefore family institutes and related authorities must concentrate on this problem before Pattaya City becomes, exclusively, a sexual tourist destination. [via Pattaya Daily News]

  • Briton says Thai woman dumps him after getting his Bt17 million - A 63-year-old Briton called for help from the authorities to force a Thai woman to return his money nearly Bt17 million after she chased him out of her house.

Stephen Jones said he had met the woman in Pattaya in 2001 and decided to sell all of his assets in England and gave the money to her to buy a house and plots of land in Kalasin to live with her. But the woman chased him out of the house two months ago after she had got all of his money. He said he became broke and wanted his money back so that he could return to his homeland.

Kalasin chief public prosecutor said the woman could not yet be charged with cheating because the two had got married. He said the Kalasin public prosecutor office would investigate to see if the assets had been bought with Jones' money or not and would see if Jones had willingly given the assets to the woman. He said it was possible that Jones could sue the woman for equal divisions of the assets. [via The Nation]

  • A man escapes from a prison where he's been locked up for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money & guns. Inside, he finds a young couple lying in bed. He orders the guy out of bed & ties him to a chair.  While tying the homeowner's wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, kisses her neck, then gets up & goes into the bathroom.

While he's in there, the husband whispers over to his wife: "Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He's probably spent a lot of time in jail & hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don't resist, don't complain.....do whatever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he'll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you!"

His wife ! responds: "He wasn't kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he's gay, thinks you're cute, & asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong honey. I love you too!"
